As summer approaches and more folks get vaccinated, travel plans are starting to fall into place. For those living a gluten free life, preparing for travel has the added element of having to think through your food options. Travelers without dietary restrictions take for granted that they can pick up a snack or quick meal anywhere, but not so for the gluten free traveler.

We’ve put together this list of gluten free travel snacks to help inspire you for your next trip. Whether you’re on a plane, train, or automobile, these gluten free travel snacks will keep your tummy and taste buds happy.

Trail Mix

Nuts and berries are a great source of protein, antioxidants and fiber. Trail mix comes in many different varieties. While it’s often assumed that trail mix is just fruit, nuts, and a smattering of chocolate, some trail mixes can include gluten contaminate or fillers like pretzels and chex mix. Always be sure to read labels before you buy, and feel free to mix up your own combination of berries and nuts at home if you want to be extra cautious.

Gluten Free Graham Crackers and Peanut Butter

Delicious and nutritious, gluten free graham crackers and peanut butter are great for a travel snack or dessert. Try our Nuflours gluten free graham crackers with your favorite gluten free peanut butter and sprinkle a little something extra on the top. (Try cinnamon, bananas, or raisins!)

Gluten Free Cookies

A timeless classic, and for good reason. Cookies are not only easy to travel with, but they serve as a much-needed boost in morale when you’re on the road. Stock up on gluten free travel snacks at Nuflours, where you can pick up our Almond Chocolate Chip cookie, Vegan Double Chocolate Cookie, or a pack of our completely plant-based chocolate sandwich cookies! (They taste just like Oreos, so you may want to pick up an extra pack so you don’t have to share.)

Gluten Free Hand Pies

While you’re at Nuflours, you’ll definitely want to try our spinach feta hand pie. As the name suggests, it consists of a closed pastry that fits in your hand and is stuffed with nutrient-rich and flavorful goodness for the perfectly compact lunch-on-the-go that requires no clean up.

Corn Chips and Salsa

There are many brands of gluten free corn chips available (as always be sure to check labels). Pick up a bag of your favorite and have the classic chips in salsa, or make some of your favorite dip to take on the road. You can also enjoy your corn chips as a side to your gluten free sandwich or with your favorite cheese for travel nachos.

Gluten Free Rice Cakes

All Quaker brand rice cakes are gluten free and make an excellent gluten free travel snack or bread substitute! Pile them high with your favorite sandwich fixings, or go the sweet route with peanut butter and honey, or cinnamon and banana.

Gluten Free Buns

While Nuflours hamburger buns make a mean burger, they can also be enjoyed on their own, covered in butter and jam, or with a hunk of cheese or deli meat. They are also available to order online, so it’s easy to add them to your gluten free travel snack plan.

If you plan to fly, please note that all of our products are safe to take on carry-ons and will pass through security. You can find our products at PCC, New Seasons, Nuflours, or get it delivered to your door.
